Michigan Inground Pool Designers
AquaScapes designs and builds residential, luxury swimming pools primarily in Southeast Michigan. As a third-generation, family enterprise begun in 1967, our focus is on both “one-of-a-kind” designs capturing natural or contemporary "design themes", and classic rectangular bodies conveying true grace and elegance. We are licensed and insured, members of the Michigan Business and Professional Association, and have been honored with the 2000 Mid-America Design Award (Gold) in the "residential interior" category.

Inground Pool Design Planning
There is something very special indeed about inground pools, transforming backyard space into a resort-like setting. A focal point for relaxation, entertainment, exercise, and aesthetic pleasure, the pool becomes an organic extension of your home. Just as with any addition to your home, how the space will be enjoyed and by whom are important considerations when planning inground pools. Foremost the result must be visually appealing and look like it “belongs”, being either a direct extension of the residence or a central element in the overall natural setting.
Luxury Pool Designs
An important part of our mission is to assist you in shaping your vision. While your budget and building site will be determinants, our designs are limited only by imagination. AquaScapes combines the design creativity of architectural training with years of solid construction experience and a sophisticated sense of necessary knowledge. Our About Us page will provide more detail about the folks behind AquaScapes.

Once the design theme is established we turn our thinking to specific elements of the design.
Placement and proportion - what is the most appropriate location on the property and how will the design be sized to achieve maximum enjoyment and visual appeal? This thinking takes into account some very unglamorous yet important points such as drainage, soil retention, and placement of utilities and equipment. As well, certain building sites require that we have engineering evaluation of soils and substructure particularly on hillside and lakefront locations.
Feature elements – do we want to include elements such as a spa, a grotto, a vanishing edge, or a beach entry? Do we want to hear and see moving water, as in a waterfall or water curtain? Where do we want to enter and exit the pool and where might we want to sit and relax within the pool? What depth transitions are most appropriate for our intended use?
Colors and textures – most often selection of materials will be guided by the design theme; natural quarry stone and complimentary tile with a darker interior finish for a freeform shape, or limestone and a light interior finish for classic geometries as examples.
Equipment and technology – all components are properly matched to service the volume of water for filtration and disinfection. Beyond those essentials, lighting, automated control, and automated cleaning equipment rounds out the component inventory.
Landscaping – it has been suggested that the pool is the art and the landscape is the picture frame. We are happy to perform as members of a team, or serve as general contractors, when other professions and skills are called for to enhance the project.
Season – we even consider your intended seasonal use to select component sets and pool configurations. Some folks operate their pool from Memorial Day to Labor Day; a rather short swimming season. Others choose a longer duration such as mid- April until mid-October.
Above all we must design and build to achieve aesthetic excellence that is durable and problem-resistant. See our Photo Gallery page for more photos of our inground pools. We strive to make the entire design and construction process enjoyable by keeping you closely advised, working expeditiously to meet tight schedules, and causing as little disruption as possible.
